Alyssa Rowse Wins Another Medal In St Lucia
Bermuda was again represented on the podium in St. Lucia as Alyssa Rowse finished second in the girls road race while her teammates in the pre-junior category Dylan Hill and Kaden Hopkins turned in strong performances in their race.
Following her dominating performance in the time trial Rowse was marked from the start by the field and virtually none of the other competitors were willing to contribute to making the pace.
The BBA said, “On the start of the second of five laps the leaders were reduced to four, Rowse plus two from Puerto Rico and one from Surinam.
“In the final sprint it was once again up to the Warwick Academy student to initiate the effort but she came up short on the line. Still, the road race capped a strong weekend for Rowse in her first races outside of Bermuda.
“For the boys, what was anticipated to be an aggressive race turned out to be exactly that. Having made a temporary pact with the Puerto Rican racers to help chase every attempt down, Hill and Hopkins worked the entire race to keep things together for the final push to the line.
“The final placing a of 17th and 21st don’t properly reflect the work they did in the race but demonstrated that they are certainly strong competitors for this event.”
The team departs St. Lucia today, and returns to Bermuda on Tuesday evening from Miami.
Congratulations young lady.
She’s a winner !
