Football: Bermuda To Play Canada In January
The Bermuda Football Association announced that the Gombey Warriors will take on the Canada Men’s National Team at the National Sports Center on Sunday, January 22nd, 2017, with Coach Andrew Bascome to lead the team in this International Friendly match.
“This match is being organized to reaffirm our presence in the international arena, in particular, within our CONCACAF region, continue to build on the strategic aims and objectives as it relates to our National Teams programming and brings together aspiring national team players as the Association builds toward the next cycle of FIFA World Cup and CFU Caribbean Cup Qualifying tournaments,” the BFA said.
“Details on ticket sales for the match will be released shortly. We ask that everyone come out to support the team and the match and cheer on your Gombey Warriors.”
Um not gonna mention anything about airports.
Good luck guys.
Hopefully many of of Pro’s overseas can come back and play.
It would be good, but I’d be surprised. Pretty sure there is no international break scheduled that early in the new year, so no reason for clubs to allow players to fly home.
They wouldn’t come back for a friendly
Man! For a second I thought Andrew Bascome was gonna be playing. Bet he could still do it.
Didn’t he resign as coach?
Very positive news I really like that,I think it’s a splendid idea, and all our football fans should try and come out and show our support …
How is Andrew Bascome still the National Team Coach? He resigned. Please ensure that ALL players and ALL coaches are drug tested and cleared of any gang involvement. Practice year round. Don’t always blame the players, have coaches take some responsibility for poor performance and lack of regular training sessions.
Thank you Bernese for calling the Worlds game ” Football” still and not being a follower and calling it soccer which is called only by North Americans and the Assuies.
6 – 1 Canada.
Just sayin
That’s why they play the matches on the field.
That said, what a coup for the BFA to secure a home contest against Canada, who despite their ranking, represent a ‘big draw’ in the region.
