BPS Confirm Death Of 62-Yr-Old Terry Simmons

[Updated] The police have confirmed that a 62-year-old man has died following a collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish early this morning.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 12:40am today, Thursday January 19th, police and first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle motorcycle collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish, near the junction with Radnor Road.

“Details remain limited at this time.

“However the rider, believed to be a 62 year old man, was injured and taken to hospital via ambulance, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

“N‎o further information regarding the deceased will be released at this time, until next of kin has been notified.

“An investigation into this fatal collision, the first for 2017, is underway and any witnesses or persons that were in the North Shore Road, Radnor Road Hamilton parish area around 12:40am should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

Update 3.26pm:
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 62 year old Terry Simmons of Pembroke and extends condolences to his family and friends.

“Mr. Simmons was seriously injured after the motorcycle he was riding apparently struck a wall in a reported single vehicle crash on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Radnor Road around 12:40am Thursday, January 19th.

“He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead at 1:19am. A Family Liaison Officer will be assigned to assist the Simmons family at this difficult time.

“The investigation into this fatal collision, the first of the year, continues.

“Any witnesses or persons familiar with the whereabouts of Mr. Simmons in the hours prior to 12:40am Thursday should contact the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788 or the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
