Sloop Foundation Appoint Branwen Smith King
The Bermuda Sloop Foundation announced the appointment of Branwen C.A. Smith‐King to the position of Executive Director.
Ms. King is a Bermudian who has recently been Assistant Director of Athletics and a Senior Woman Administrator at Tufts University, Medford MA.
She is an experienced collegiate athletic administrator, instructor and National caliber head coach with over 30 years of leadership in higher education.
Board Chair, David Goodwin said, “After an extensive search by the board of directors, we are very happy to have found a very highly qualified Bermudian with this level of experience and success.
“We believe Branwens extensive administrative and hands on programme experience will be a great resource for the many of the hard working staff and volunteers at the foundation, and we the board, our friends, stakeholders, donors and community supporters look forward to her contribution, and energy”
With an Masters in Education and Bachelor of Science degrees, Ms. King’s 30 year career started in Bermuda at Whitney Institute as Physical Education teacher and coach.
She then went on to become the Head of Women’s Cross Country & Track and Field Coach and Physical Education Director, and then Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Women Administrator at Tufts University in Massachusetts.
Ms. King said, “I look forward to working with the Bermuda Sloop Foundation and have already begun my on‐boarding programme and am delighted to see and meet a very enthusiastic and professional group of staff, volunteers, donors and directors.”
