FYG To Host Strongman Competition On Oct 28
Bermuda’s only Strongman contest is returning for a second year and this time women will also compete in superhuman-like feats of strength before a live audience on Saturday, October 28th.
Find Your Grind introduced the Bermuda Strong Man Competition last year and is continuing the new tradition as part of its brand mission to promote sustainably healthy and fit lifestyles on the island.
There will be eight adult male competitors this time around and six women will challenge their physical strength, including Bermudian boxer Teresa Perozzi. Last year’s champion David Lambert is returning to defend his title.
Find Your Grind Co-founder Kyle James said: “Bermuda Strong Man Competition is a spectator event unlike anything else on the Bermuda sports scene, especially now that we have a female category.
“The extreme effort and intense focus can be seen on the faces of every competitor from up close and spectators play a very important role because everyone pushes themselves to the limit when they hear cheers from the sidelines.”
Four high school students from Saltus, Berkeley Institute and CedarBridge will also compete on Saturday after receiving mentorship from adult competitors in the lead-up to the event. Tenneson Telemaque hopes to repeat as youth champion. Youth participation and mentoring have been staples of Bermuda Strong Man Competition since inception; Mr. James volunteers as a mentor in Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
The charity will also benefit from proceeds generated as a result of Bermuda Strong Man Competition; spectators pay $10 to enter while students enter free.
The event begins at 11am on October 28th on the top level of Bull’s Head Carpark and will last until 4pm.
There will be five grueling events for the male and female competitors, some of the events incorporate the youth participants. Food vendors will be on-hand, offering food and beverages and the entertainment is family friendly, including a fun castle, electric cars and a jump rope performance.
