Two Athletes Meet Carifta Qualifying Standard
The Bermuda National Athletics Association held a track meet at the National Sports Center, with two more athletes meeting the Carifta Standard..
There was plenty of celebration when Johndell Cumberbatch clocked a Under 20 Boys 5000 Meter Run winning time of 16:55.56, but then there was even a bigger cheer when fourteen year old Amelia Othman hit the Under 17 Girls High Jump mark of 1.55m, she would also hit the 1.60m mark on her way to the win.
Za’kayza Parsons won the Under 17 Girls 100 Meter Dash clocking a time of 13.14, Nhoaa Powell was second in 13.78 and Jahstice Grant was third in 13.84.
Sakari Famous missed out on the Commonwealth Games High Jump Mark of 1.79m, when she won the Under 20 Girls High Jump with a top leap of 1.75m.
Three Boys came close to meeting the Carifta Standard in the Under 17 Boys 3000 Meter Run which was won by Nick Pilgrim who clocked 9:48.29, Ryan Outerbridge was second in 9:48.44 and Tommy Marshall finished third with a time of 9:55.15.
