‘Love The Dancehall, Old School, Lovers Rock’
An event titled “Love The Dancehall, The Old School & Lovers Rock Edition” is set to be held at 10.00pm on Saturday February 17, 2018, at the Devonshire Recreational Club, Devonshire.
The lineup for the event will feature the local talent with King Jyrus, Twin Starr, Jugglin Jason, Big Mon Lafi and DJ Markie T.
Bakari Smith, also known as DJ i-Breeze, said, “This event is a tribute to the authentic Dancehall lovers who enjoy old and new reggae/sweetness. Artists such as Garnet Silk, Tenor Saw, Sanchez, Frankie Paul, Shabba Ranks, Beres Hammond, Jah Cure, Chronixx, Sizzla, and Tarrus Riley will be played just to name a few. It will be a new and old school vibe.”
DJ i-Breeze’s Sixty Minute Mayhem Mix:
“I feel the lineup complements the event as well because it reflects a mixture of old and new djs. “You have Jugglin Jason and Big Mon Lafi who have been playing reggae for the older generation for several years. Then you have Twin Starr and Markie T and of course King Jyrus who have also played music for several years, but are from the 90’s area. So it will be a good blend of nonstop juggling for everybody.”
“We always try to keep the admission prices reasonable so that everybody can come out and have good time. General admission will be $20 all night and $25 for couples before 12 a.m. mid-night. There will be a mix of good reggae being played on the night that will take you back and keep you reminiscing, but also a mix of the current artists who have newer reggae hits.
“There will also be free CD giveaways for the first 50 people [one per couple] at the door.”
