Info Session On Government Code Of Practice
The Minister of Cabinet Office with Responsibility for Government Reform, Lovitta Foggo and the Minister of Economic Development and Tourism, the Jamahl Simmons will “stress the importance of fair and equal job opportunities for small and medium size businesses at an upcoming meeting next week,” the Government said.
The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation [BEDC] is hosting a public meeting on March 27, regarding the Code of Practice for Project Management and Procurement.
Next Tuesday’s meeting will be held from 8.30 am – 10.00 am at the Cathedral Hall, Church Street. A similar meeting was held last month for Chamber of Commerce members, and earlier this week for BEDC contractors, suppliers, and vendors.
This third meeting will afford those present an opportunity to learn more about the new rules associated with doing business with the Government.
The Government said, “In particular, small and medium sized businesses that conduct business with the Government are encouraged to attend next Tuesday’s meeting, so that they can engage with representatives of BEDC and the Department of Procurement.”
Minister Foggo — who has the responsibility for the Department of Procurement — said, “Government is committed to empowering small and mid-sized businesses to gain access to public sector opportunities.
“The Code also sets out the requirements and procedures for the procurement of goods and services for the Government that must be met and followed by all public officers. So, during next week’s presentation, BEDC members will receive information about key aspects of the Code and their potential impact on the commercial interests.”
