Stellar Entertainment At ‘Made In Bermuda Fest’

Pink Sand Entertainment kicked off the month of September with a bang – an incredible, sold out event featuring Bermudian talent and Grammy-Award winning artist Monica.

Made in Bermuda Fest was the finale to the successful Made in Bermuda Nights held this summer. It was held in Dockyard on the lawn, which was the perfect venue.

My husband and I arrived right before showtime – 8pm. Parking was super organised and when we got to the entrance, we were escorted to the VIP area and again to our seats.

There were rows and rows of seats, a buffet and two bars in the VIP section. We arrived early as we didn’t want to miss anything on a night celebrating Bermudian artists.

The evening began when hosts Nadanjah and Nishanti welcomed the crowd and introduced the first act, The Wallstreet Band. The band warmed the crowd up and did an awesome tribute to Prince with Purple Rain.

Original Live Wires followed with a mix of covers and original music. I always enjoy seeing him on the stage. Bermuda’s Queen of Soul Sheila Smith was up next. This was the first time I’d seen her perform and I have no idea why she isn’t famous! Her voice is incredible, and her stage presence was everything.

After short DJ set by DJ iBreeze, our hosts came back to the stage to introduce the next band – One Soulution. The band kicked off with two songs from Ty Wilson. He sang an original song and an old favourite of mine, Ready for Love by India Arie.

New Bermudian artist Sinead the Flower followed up with her first live performance. She has such a beautiful, natural type of vibe, which I loved.

Well-known Bermudian singer Olivia Hamilton started her set with an a capella version of It’s Me Again Jah to much applause from the crowd and followed up with a new version of Turn Your Lights Down Low.

BLAC sang a few original songs and got the reggae vibe going for the night. He was then joined by Brixx for a song called Forbidden Love.

Brixx came back to the stage after a quick outfit change and did a full set as the Bermudian featured artist of the evening. She sang radio favourites Havana and Friends and then went into a set with original music including Paper and Premeditated, both produced by Dem Biez. I love her style and hope she goes far in the industry.

After a soca-filled set that got the crowd dancing by DJ Chub, Nadanjah and Nishanti came back to the stage with pure jokes for the audience including songs and dance. It was a great way to set the stage for Monica.

The Atlanta diva came to the stage before midnight and sang her butt off. As a huge Monica fan in my teen years, I knew she could sing but I kinda forgot how good she was. Monica sang a ton of songs from her albums over the years including The Boy Is Mine, Trust, Still Standing, Everything to Me, For You I Will, Angel of Mine, Don’t Take it Personal, So Gone and many more.

The crowd loved her and sang many songs word for word. Having been a Monica fan in my younger years, it was great to see her in person. She was wonderful on stage and was able to connect well with the audience.

All in all, Made in Bermuda Fest was a night of stellar entertainment. I normally don’t go to concerts right at the start time, but I knew I needed to this time around to make sure I was able to experience every single Bermudian artist who came on the stage.

Pink Sand Entertainment did an excellent job from start to finish. I can’t wait til next year!
