Masterworks Hosting New Years Day Open House
Masterworks will be hosting an ‘open house’ on Tuesday January 1st 2019 running from 12 noon until 3.00pm.
A spokesperson said, “With the New Year just around the corner, many are preparing for New Year’s Eve Celebrations, but some forget the next day, New Year’s Day.
“New Year’s Day in Bermuda has a number of diverse traditions, from ‘Polar Bear’ Swims [in 60F water] to Codfish Breakfast to opening the last set of gifts for the season. Regardless of what is done, the main focus is family.”
“For Masterworks, our family is our visitors. Our tradition, is to invite our family to visit Masterworks on New Year’s Day for our Annual New Year’s Day Open House;” shares Founder and Creative Director Tom Butterfield.
“We also understand that we have many guests to the island, needing a way to welcome the new year, we want to encourage them to come to Masterworks. It’s a great opportunity for everyone, visitors, members, non-members, to visit the museum, enjoy a glass of bubbly, and get a taste of Bermuda’s History through art.
“Our current exhibit, ’10 Years a Museum-Redux’ is a repurposed look at the gifts Masterworks has acquired over the last 10 years. These gifts, include recent gifts from Estrellita Karsh, the widow of the famed Canadian photographer, Yosef Karsh. These profound photos feature Muhammad Ali, Winston Churchill, and Georgia O’Keeffe.
“The exhibition also celebrates works by Winslow Homer, and Georgia O’Keeffe, both of whom were inspired by Bermuda, her beauty and her people during their visits to the island.”
The open house will run from 12noon to 3pm, on Tuesday, January 1 2019. New Year’s Day. For more information call 299-4000 or email Info@masterworksbermuda.org.
