Bermuda Pacers To Compete In New York
Members of the Bermuda Pacers Track Club are getting set to compete in the 2019 Armory Youth Championships in New York on Monday, February 18.
Distance runner and Carifta qualifier Johndell Cumberbatch and long jumper Mikaela Tucker will lead a 16-member team to Championships.
Cumberbatch will be competing in the 17-18 Boys 800 and 1600 meter events, while Tucker will compete in the 17-18 Girls 200 and Long Jump. Mikal Dill, another senior member of the team, will competing in the 17-18 Boys 200 meters and Long Jump.
In the 15-16 Girl’s Division, Sanaa Rae Morris, Keturah Bulford-Trott, Koa GoodChild, Jezhari Talbot, Nhaao Powell and Miniya Wainwright will compete in the 55 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, high jump and long jump. This same group of young ladies will also test their skills in the 15-16 Girl’s 4×200 meter relay.
In the 15-16 Boy’s Division, the club will send Front Street Mile winner Kahzi Sealey. He will team up with Nirobi Smith-Mills, Sancho Smith, and John Dickinson. All athletes hope to reach the qualifying standards for this years’ Carifta. They will compete in events including 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1600 meters 3000 meters and high jump.
In the 13-14 Boy’s Division, the club will have lone representative Denver Tucker compete in the 55 meters, 200 meters and long jump. This will be Tucker’s first time representing the club. In the 11-12 Boys and Girl’s Division, the club will have Daylen Scott and J’Naz Richards. Both will compete in the 55 meters, 200 meters and long jump.
The 16-member team will compete in 36 individual events and one 4×200 meter. This will be the first time the club has competed in this event.
