Suresh Black Meets Carifta Standard In Boston
Suresh Black competed in the Silverhawk Open in Winterpark, Florida, winning the 200m and qualifying for the 2019 Carifta Games.
BNAA President Donna Raynor said, “I am pleased to announce that we have another Carifta Games qualifier. Suresh Black competed in the Silverhawk Open in Winterpark, Florida representing First Academy [Orlando] yesterday March 13th.
“Suresh won the 100m in a time of 10.96 which is just off the U20 boys Carifta qualifying standard of 10.78. He then came back and won the 200m in a time 21.78 which met the U20 Boys Carifta qualifying standard of 21.80.
“This will be Suresh’s 2nd appearance at the Carifta games as last year he was injured and was unable to attend. That brings our number to 16 athletes. We are closing in on the 20 athletes we are hoping for.
“With a track meet this weekend and our athletes still competing overseas we are hoping to increase that number.”
