Christ Church Warwick’s 300th Anniversary
The 300th anniversary celebrations of Christ Church Warwick – which is believed to be one of the oldest Presbyterian Churches in the Western hemisphere – began this week.
A spokesperson said, “Founded in 1719, the actual date of its beginning is not known, but traditionally anniversary celebrations have taken place near the end of April.
“The Moderator of the Church of Scotland, the Rt. Rev. Susan Brown, will be coming to participate in the celebrations. She will be meeting with other religious leaders on the island as well as attending various functions organized by the Church’s 300th Anniversary Committee, culminating in a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, April 28 at 11.00am, to which local dignitaries have been invited.
“As part of the activities during the week, the Moderator secured a time capsule and plant a commemorative cedar tree in the Church grounds while she is here.”
