June 5, 2019

Court House Squash & Wellness, The Platinum Group Ltd, and other sponsors have teamed up to hold the Platinum Group Pro Squash Invitational from June 5 to June 7.

A spokesperson said, “The Platinum Group Pro Squash Invitational will expose participants to elite squash clinics with world ranked professionals and give locals a chance to watch competitive exhibition games. The participating squash professionals include Nikki Todd, Sam Cornett, Sabrina Sobhy, Ashley Davies, Mike McCue, and Connor Turk from overseas, and Melina Turk and Micah Franklin who are based on the island.

“As part of an ongoing effort to raise the profile of squash at Court House Squash & Wellness and in Bermuda, Melina Turk, the club’s squash coach, is enjoying building relations with the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association and other stakeholders. Having successful events such as the Platinum Group Pro Squash Invitational will encourage more people to join the sport and position Bermuda as an attractive venue for future professional squash opportunities.”

Ms. Turk said, “It’s important for people to be exposed to squash at the professional level in events like these. This is going to create excitement and drive the level of squash up, especially in a smaller country like Bermuda and for a sport that isn’t heavily televised.”
