Bermuda Sailors Begin Optimist Championships
Flags representing every corner of the globe including Bermuda transformed the streets of English Harbor into a kaleidoscope of color for the opening parade of the 2019 Optimist World Championship in Antigua.
A total of 257 young sailors from 65 participating nations, took to the waters for Two Races, topping the field with two firsts is Richard Schultheis from Malta, followed by Ian Walker March in second and Jack Redmond in third, while the top girl is Spain’s Maria Perello in 11th.
Sebastian Kempe leading the Bermuda Fleet, he is currently in 18th place with 16 points.
Christian Ebbin is holding down the 44th place spot with 27 points, Magnus Ringsted is 60th with 35 points, Laura Hupman is in the 98th position with 56 points and Nicole Stovell is in 153rd place with 78 points.
