Volunteers Needed For Mirrors Juniors Camp
Mirrors is appealing for community volunteers to assist in Mirrors’ six-day Junior Forum SuperCamp for middle school students.
A spokesperson said, “The camp will give 60 middle school students an incredible opportunity to develop their socio-emotional skills using the innovative neuroscience-based learning techniques developed by the Quantum Learning Network.
“Volunteers undergo two days of training in preparation for camp, and in turn receive free professional development training in the Quantum Learning methods and the ‘8 Keys of Excellence’.
“The camp uses a structured curriculum to provide students with intensive personal development skills and a framework for personal success with the 8 Keys of Excellence.
“Team Leaders play a vital role creating a supportive atmosphere where students are encouraged to participate and take the risks necessary to grow during camp. Mirrors is recruiting 20 volunteers to assist with the camp and support campers.”
Minister of Legal Affairs, Senator Kathy Lynn Simmons said, “Mirrors relies on community volunteers to create the positive, nurturing environment necessary for campers to learn and grow. A cornerstone of the organization is building positive relationships between adults and young people.
“It’s one of the hallmarks of Mirrors, with proven results shared by both past volunteers and students. I encourage you to volunteer and support our youth. It is an incredible experience that you will also benefit from.”
The spokesperson said, “One 2018 Team Leader stated that their experience, “Has given me a new purpose and outlook on what is achievable in my own life. And the possibilities that I can now accomplish. I am grateful for this opportunity!”
“When asked to comment on the value of team leaders, 2018 Junior Forum the student shared that their team leaders showed them teamwork, that they can trust others, how to be a leader and be more positive and how to be more open to talking about things.
“One of the most common themes reported by 2018 students was that camp showed them that “everybody struggles” which helped them to feel “less alone”.
“Mirrors is appealing for volunteers to spend two days of training on Saturday October 19th and Sunday October 20th and six days from Monday, October 21st to Saturday October 26th supporting the camp.
