Wells: ‘I Have Point To Prove, I Am Determined’
“I want to show QPR fans my best form and at the moment I am doing that,” Nahki Wells said, with the Bermudian footballer adding, “I have a big point to prove and I am determined. I just count myself lucky that I have another chance.”
The Queens Park Rangers website said, “Nahki Wells scored both goals as QPR beat Millwall 2-1 on Saturday before declaring: “I have a big point to prove.”
“The R’s striker made it six goals in eight appearances in all competitions this season and the 29-year-old is determined to show the supporters his best side.
“Wells spent last season at QPR and scored ten goals, with six coming in 11 games in the lead up to Christmas. Now he wants to replicate that form over the course of the whole campaign in his second loan spell with the club.
“After netting his brace at the Den to help Rangers make it four wins in a row, Wells said: “I am delighted of course.
“I want to show QPR fans my best form and at the moment I am doing that.
“It’s important I prolong that over the course of the season. I want to have an impact on the team far more significantly than I did last year.”
“Under Mark Warburton, QPR are proving to be a potent threat. Only West Brom [15] have scored more goals in the Championship than Rangers [14], and Wells is enjoying the footballing style he is a major part of.
“We just want to play attacking, entertaining football and once you have that mindset instilled that you want to attack first, it gives us as forwards motivation to believe we are going to create a lot of chances,” he added. “It’s just about taking them.
“I had to be a lot more clinical last season because there was a lack of creativity in comparison to this season.
“Now I have confidence that if I miss a chance I will get another one whereas maybe last year I felt I had to take that chance or I would have to wait until another game.”
“Wells admits he is motivated by his form last year, believing Rangers fans are yet to see him at his most devastating.
“I know for a fact the fans and the club didn’t see the best of me last season,” he said. “They maybe saw the best of me for a month. I want to try and do that over the course of the whole season.
“I have a big point to prove and I am determined. I just count myself lucky that I have another chance.”
