First & Premier Division Football Results
Footballers in both the First Division and Premier Division were in action this past weekend, with the Devonshire Colts, St. George’s Colts, Devonshire Cougars, and Southampton Rangers recording wins, while four other matches ended in draws.
First: Devonshire Colts 4 – Hamilton Parish 2
At the Devonshire Rec, the Devonshire Colts continued their march for promotion with a 4 – 2 win over Hamilton Parish. Rahzir Smith-Jones gave the Devonshire Colts the lead in the 23rd minute. The lead was doubled in the 42nd minute when Jehkelyo Burgess scored and then on the stroke of half time Chemarl Henry made it 3 – 0 to the Devonshire Colts.
Tareek Webb pulled a goal back for Hamilton Parish with a strike in the 51st minute, but an own goal in the 78th minute restored the Devonshire Colts’ three goal lead; only a minute later, Christopher Smith scored for Hamilton Parish to make the final score 4 – 2.
First: St. George’s Colts 3 – Young Men Social Club 0
The St. George’s Colts maintained their healthy lead at the top of the First Division table following their 3 – 0 win over Young Men Social Club at the Wellington Oval.
The league leaders got goals from Lashun Dill, Jahron Dickinson and an own goal in their win.
First: Ireland Rangers 1 – Vasco 1
At Malabar, the Ireland Rangers and Vasco played to a 1 – 1 draw. After a scoreless first half, Sakai Proctor gave the host Ireland Rangers the lead, but in injury time Ricardo Medeiros leveled the score for Vasco.
First: St. David’s 0 – Flanagan’s Onions 0
This match between St. David’s and the Flanagan’s Onions at Lord’s in St. David’s did not go on as scheduled due to the pitch not being marked for the match.
Premier: Devonshire Cougars 2 – PHC Zebras 1
At the Devonshire Rec, the Devonshire Cougars came from behind to defeat the PHC Zebras 2 – 1. Cecoy Robinson gave the PHC Zebras the lead in the 33rd minute, only for Drewonde Bascome to equalize for the Devonshire Cougars after converting from the penalty spot in the 55th minute. Calon Maybury then put the Devonshire Cougars ahead 2 – 1 in the 63rd minute and that goal proved to be the winner.
Premier: Southampton Rangers 2 – Somerset Eagles 0
The Southampton Rangers picked up all three points in their 2 – 0 win over the Somerset Eagles at the Southampton Oval.
The Rangers got single strikes from Jarazinho Bassett and Shayne Hollis in the win.
Premier: X-Roads 2 – North Village Rams 2
X-Roads and the the North Village Rams played to a 2 – 2 draw at the Garrison Field.
An own goal gave the North Village Rams the lead, but goals from Paul Simons and Mauriq Hill put X-Roads in front before a strike from Jaizel Smith-Deshields earned the North Village Rams a point.
Premier: Somerset Trojans 2 – Dandy Town Hornets 2
At the Somerset Cricket Club, the Somerset Trojans and Dandy Town Hornets played to a 2 – 2 draw.
The Dandy Town Hornets took the lead in the sixth minute when Eusebio Blankendal scored. Keith Jennings equalized for the Somerset Trojans in the 53rd minute. Leo Burgess gave the Somerset Trojans the lead when he found the back of the net in the 66th minute, but in stoppage time Lynn Emery found the back of the net for the Dandy Town Hornets to earn a point.
