Track Athletes To Compete In The Bahamas
Bermudian track & field athletes will traveling to the Bahamas today [Jan 30] to compete in the Star Performers Track Classic as part of their preparation for the upcoming Carifta Games.
Bermuda National Athletics Association President Donna Raynor said, “The Bermuda Carifta team is shaping up to be good and with so many of our athletes overseas competing we should be looking at a great quality team for the Games.
“We are sending our local Carifta athlete possibilities to a meet this weekend in Bahamas to compete in the Star Performers Track Classic. The team leaves today. There will be 16 athletes traveling and three coaches; Terry Lynn Paynter, Devon Bean and Freddie Evans.
“We are trying to give our local athletes some overseas competition in order for them to qualify for the games and exposure. They will be competing against some of the athletes who will be competing at the Carifta Games as well.
“With the NSC not being available we have had to look at other opportunities for our athletes with at least three overseas events lined up between now and the Games.“
