Advisory: TCD Vehicle Licensing Procedures
Government has issued an advisory about vehicle licensing procedures, saying that “in an effort to assist, the Ministry of Tourism and Transport advises the public to adhere to the following updated instructions and procedures.”
A spokesperson said, “Vehicle owners that hold a valid TCD vehicle examination pass certificate and required to renew their vehicle licenses by March 31, 2020, can do so by following this two-step procedure:
- “Renew your vehicle insurance by contacting your insurance provider online or by phone.
- “Visit eTCD here to register and pay for your vehicle licence online.
“For those individuals required to renew their heavy truck licence, the Government has extended the period for heavy truck relicensing to 30 April 2020. However, heavy truck owners must contact their insurance providers online or by phone to renew their annual policy.
“On completion of the licensing process, a new registration certificate cannot be provided. However, the TCD system will be updated to reflect that your vehicle is now licensed.
“The public is also advised that due to the office being closed, owners of vehicles that require TCD inspection pass certificates before relicensing will be unable to get their vehicle examined. However, as a priority, these vehicle owners are advised to make every effort to have their vehicles insured.
“By Friday, 3 April, TCD will reassess these procedure and advise on the availability of vehicle examinations and registration certificates.”

Officials are urging everyone to please follow all guidance like washing your hands, adhering to self quarantine if relevant, and practicing social distancing, and they have asked that if it is not urgent, a necessity or work, to please stay home to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The website doesn’t allow you to pay for your license online. It only allows you to schedule a vehicle inspection which is pointless because TCD is closed. This makes no sense.
