DropIt Makes Changes To Delivery Process
In an effort to better serve the community during the Covid-19 pandemic, the DropIt delivery service is making changes in its delivery process.
An email sent out by the company said, “We are playing a very key role for the community during these unprecedented times. The numbers of bodies in quarantine is rising fast which means we must continue to evolve this process. Please be sure to look out for your at risk neighbors and others in the community with limited outside access.
“In an effort to better serve our community, we will be making changes to our delivery processes which may result in receiving your orders at different times than requested. Our goal is to get your orders out the door sooner than expected. Please see the below updates to our processes.
Delivery By Parish Schedule Below
1. Delivery Grouping
“Deliveries will be made in groups based on parishes. This means your delivery may be delivered before or after your selected time-slot. We understand that this may inconvenience some, but will be for the greater good of the community as a whole.
2. Decreased Delivery Fee
“We have lowered the cost of delivery for both members, and non member users to allow further access to delivery of groceries.
3. Substitutions & Courtesy Calls
“We will not be making courtesy calls to discuss alternative/out of stock items during this time. To ensure that you receive your staple items, please select ‘Allow Substitutions’. Otherwise you will risk not receiving any item at all.
4. Gratuities
“We will be pooling a portion of our admin fee to thank our staff for their tremendous work at this time. They have worked tirelessly for 12+ hours/day in a ‘high risk’ environment to serve our island family. Tipping on delivery and pickup is encouraged to thank these daily heroes.”
You can place your order via the DropIt website.

Officials are urging everyone to please follow all guidance like washing your hands, adhering to self quarantine if relevant, and practicing social distancing, and they have asked that if it is not urgent, a necessity or work, to please stay home to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
(Tipping on delivery is encouraged ) why put the delivery heroes at risk of having to interact with people possibly in quarantine then take the virus to the next pick up or delivery. Charge a flat 2 or 3 dollars tip when taking the order via phone. If the delivery is done in cash then maybe a sealed envelope with name should be giving to the delivery person .
