A spokesperson said, “We have been ramping up our volume of stock and hygiene practices for the last few weeks to cope with the impact of the new coronavirus.

“We are announcing some changes that will go into effect as of March 20th until further notice:

  • “Our new store hours are posted below; These reduced hours will help us as we replenish, deep clean and sanitize our stores for the health and wellbeing of our customers and staff.
  • “We have hours set aside on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays for our more vulnerable customers; This will allow seniors 65+ to shop in a safer environment. All seniors will be asked to present a valid ID for entry during these periods. We will offer our usual 5% Wednesday discount to our senior shoppers on Tuesday mornings.
  • “Those who are immunocompromised or pregnant may gain entry during senior hours with a doctor’s note.
  • “We will be limiting the store to 40 customers at a time to create a healthy distance and be compliant with government recommendations. If possible, have just one member of your household do the shopping to allow for shorter queuing time.
  • “We ask that everyone try to plan their shop to enable them to move efficiently through the store to allow other customers entry. Please follow the suggested guideline of practicing a social distance of at least one metre [3ft]. We know that this may be inconvenient and we thank you in advance for efforts in this regard.
  • “Please note that our supply chains are secure and our updated store hours are intended to reduce the additional pressure on our staff. We ask that while shopping you purchase normal shopping amounts and keep in mind those who may not be able to shop for multiple days at a time.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this new era,” the company added.
