Lt/Col Lamb Appointed As Permanent Secretary
Head of the Public Service, Dr. Derrick Binns, today announced that Lt. Col. Edward Lamb has been appointed as the Permanent Secretary for the Cabinet Office.
A government spokesperson said, “Lt. Col. Lamb is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, England; the Caribbean Staff College and the United Kingdom Joint Services Staff College.
“He served for 26 years in the Royal Bermuda Regiment, rising through the entire rank structure before assuming command in 2002. He served as the Commanding Officer for four years, before he retired. During his time in the Royal Bermuda Regiment he held several prominent posts, including the Aide-de-Camp to His Excellency, the Governor, Lord Waddington from 1992 to 1994.
“Lt. Col. Lamb began his professional career as an Accounts Administrator at Johnson & Higgins [now Marsh]. He was an Account Executive at Sedgwick James [Bermuda]; General Manager of United Parcel Service, and the Human Resources Manager for The Shell Group Companies.
“In September 2006, he commenced working with the Department of Corrections, and assumed the position of Commissioner in April 2007. In February 2018, Lt. Col. Lamb was seconded to the Office of the National Anti-Money Laundering Committee as project manager and in February 2019 went on to act as the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Cabinet Office.”
Dr. Binns stated, “I am pleased to congratulate Lt. Col. Edward Lamb as he takes on the post of Permanent Secretary for the Cabinet Office. Over the years, he has served Bermuda with distinction and brings to the position a wealth of knowledge, skill and experience. Throughout his career, he has had significant roles that have helped to shape and define major institutions on the Island.
“The departments that will report to him are the Bermuda Post Office, Information and Digital Technologies, Communications, Statistics, Office of Project Management and Procurement, and ICT Policy and Innovation. On behalf of the Public Service, I extend congratulations to Lt. Col. Lamb as he assumes his new role.”
Is this a new post, if not who is he replacing?
I believe it was Mr. Telemaque prior.
The story states that he has been acting in this role since Feb 2019, which would suggest that whomever was there prior, is no longer there.

A very “Strick” but “fair” man!!
Strict.
(write it out 100 times before you leave class!).
PLP why do you continue to recycle the same old horses. No offense to Mr. Lamb but you’ve served your time, go enjoy retirement. You sir are not going to improve the inefficient government we have. Get some progressive people and thinkers with a different mindset, to improve the Civil service and it’s antiquated thinking.
We spend over 350 million on salaries related to government workers and the service and thinking we get from these highly paid people is subpar at best.
Don’t see any improvements with this appointment. Just more of the same and that’s a shame.
