AFP Announce Appointment Of Clare Mello
The Association of Fundraising Professionals [AFP] Bermuda Chapter announced that Clare Mello has been appointed to the newly created, volunteer Board position of Chair, Training and Development for AFP Bermuda.
A spokesperson said, “The Association of Fundraising Professionals [AFP] Bermuda Chapter today announced that, in response to the current crisis facing Bermuda’s nonprofit sector, the association will be offering training in fundraising to charities, donors, staff and volunteers.
“YouthNet Executive Director Clare Mello has been appointed to the newly created, volunteer Board position of Chair, Training and Development for AFP Bermuda. Ms. Mello’s services will be provided on a pro bono basis.
“As we adapt to the catastrophic impact of COVID 19 on our economy and the nonprofit sector, having the skills to connect with the donor community will be critical to the survival of most of Bermuda’s nonprofit organizations,” said AFP Bermuda Chair Gordon Johnson.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer someone of Clare’s calibre and experience as a resource to those working in and supporting the Island’s charities.”
“I am excited to be stepping into this new role at AFP Bermuda at a time of seminal change in Bermuda,” said Ms. Mello. “I am committed to building productive, collaborative relationships with donors, Boards, staff and volunteers to align the needs of our community with the interests of our donors.”
“Ms. Mello, who has over 20 years’ experience in Bermuda’s third sector, is a graduate of the Nonprofit Executive Leadership programme at Stanford University. She is a long-standing a member of The Bank of Bermuda Foundation’s Connected Communities subcommittee and was recently appointed as an IGNITE Bermuda mentor. She is also the catalyst behind the local Nonprofit Leadership Development programme that has supported over 35 emerging leaders in Bermuda’s third sector.
