Smith: Suspending Officer Was Correct Decision
“It was the correct decision to immediately suspend a police officer over an appalling Facebook post,” Shadow National Security Minister Ben Smith said.
Mr Smith said, “We need to send the message that there is zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour.
“The Police Commissioner, who has been commendably visible and approachable, risks having his hard work undermined by actions such as this. While the vast majority of police are excellent, one bad apple who is not dealt with properly can erode confidence in the police very quickly.
“I look forward to the result of the investigation into this incident and hope that it is concluded very quickly.”
