Contribution Made To Matilda Smith Home
Following the party at Blu, a contribution has been made to the Matilda Smith Williams Senior Residence Home.
The party has been the topic of wide discussion, as people did not adhere to the Covid-19 regulations, and it resulted in the resignations of Zane DeSilva and Wayne Caines from Cabinet and the Blu Bar receiving a 14-day closure order.
In making the contribution, Zarah Harper said, “On behalf of all of us that attended the fundraising event at Blu, we make this contribution to Matilda Smith Williams Senior Residence Home. You will understand that the various people who have contributed to this sum wish to remain anonymous and I intend to honor that request.
“Matilda Smith Williams Senior Residence Home continues to provide an important role looking after our people and is a deserving recipient of our charity. Matilda Smith Williams Senior Residence Home opened in 1962 and has been providing quality care for our seniors since then.
“Now more than ever, in the wake of Covid-19, their selfless commitment is one to be applauded and supported. We hope that this contribution will provide much needed assistance in their mission.
“As you know Meals on Wheels have chosen not to accept this charitable gift, that is to be regretted as they too, do important work, especially in the currency of this virus, I hope that in the future we will be able to host other charitable events that will raise much needed funds for their cause which will not have attracted the adverse publicity attendant here.”
Not going to comment on the whole Blu fund raiser, but the guy on the right – the mask is supposed to cover your mouth AND nose !! Kinda defeats the purpose of the mask if it doesn’t cover both – just saying !
Not to mention shaking hands with no gloves. smdh.
All criticism.
Right Wing Tea Party has raised their heads again.
Good gesture for the rest home
Its nice that they have given the money to the rest home, lets hope its used for the home, now they should have food to cook for the residents, because we all hear how sometimes there is nothing good to cook, that should never be.
I do not believe that to be true Vida Smith., What is your source of information? Why not just say thank you?
I think I know where your concern stems from.
Thank you. That contribution will be put to great use.
Where’s my popcorn?
So much for social distancing.
A lot was made as to how $10,000 was raised for Meals on Wheels, but here it’s a donation with no number. Seems to add to the mystery of how this event was allowed to go ahead.
I thought this party was a fundraiser for Meals On Wheels. So which is it?
