U.S. Consulate Donates & Expresses Gratitude
The U.S. Consulate and U.S. Customs & Border Protection donated thermometers, pop-up tents, and bottled water as additional resources for Covid-19 testing sites, saying it is to express their gratitude to everyone who has worked hard to ensure all of our safety.
A spokesperson said, “The U.S. Consulate General Hamilton and U.S. Customs and Border Protection [CBP] agency hosted a small donation ceremony at the airport facility in St. David’s on July 8.
“On behalf of CBP, the Ministry of Health received a small supply of contactless thermometers, 10×10 pop-up tents, and bottled water as additional resources for public testing sites, while the Government of Bermuda continues to combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Acting U.S. Consul General Derek Worman and CBP Port Director Cletus William expressed their appreciation to the Government and all essential workers for performing an extensive list of services which has helped to keep Bermuda safe.
“Providing access to Covid-19 testing, enforcing safety regulations, and issuing constant public messaging have been key components in managing the spread of the virus. The testing sites have been pivotal to Bermuda’s success in managing the crisis. As we move into summer, these items, although minimal, could go a long way,” said Port Director William.
“When we make donations, usually we get thanked—in this case I want to turn that around. This is merely a small token of our gratitude on behalf of my colleagues and Americans living on the island to everyone who has worked so hard over the past few months to ensure all of our safety,” said Acting Consul General Worman.
“The U.S. Consulate General, U.S. Customs Border Protection and the broader U.S. community in Bermuda, thanks everyone who is working to manage the crisis and doing their part to protect themselves and others.”
