Nov 15: Fundraising Auto Show & Motorcade
The Scooter Mart Bermuda Charge Charity Ride-Out will be held at the Bermuda Vintage Transport Museum at Dockyard on Sunday, November 15.
A spokesperson said, “The Scooter Mart Bermuda Charge will return to its origins at the Bermuda Vintage Transport Museum, Dockyard on Sunday, November 15, with a fundraising auto show and motorcade that is already attracting the island’s vehicle enthusiasts.”
Event Director David Cahill said, “We’ve been overwhelmed with the response to the ride and show. Sponsor stalls have all been taken, and the 50 available early bird tickets have already sold out.
“We know there were many riders working on motorcycle and scooter restoration projects during lockdown and it looks like they’re all going to give their rides an outing and celebrate in support of the Transport Museum.
“2020 has been such a rough year. People are really looking forward to getting together and having some fun again. We’re aiming to gather Bermuda’s 200 biggest auto enthusiasts for this ride and show.”

“The auto show, now in its third year, will start at 2.00pm at the Transport Museum, Dockyard, where entries will compete for a $2,000 cash prize pool.
“At 4.00pm, the St George’s Original Dancerettes will launch the participants on an escorted motorcade, which will travel to Hamilton for a drink stop, before returning to the museum at sunset for an exciting live auction and prize presentations.
“The ride and show will be a fundraiser at the venue of the beneficiary, the Bermuda Vintage Transport Museum, which houses a collection of beautifully restored vintage vehicles and is currently enduring a very difficult season with no cruise ships and very few visitors.
“A fundraising target of $5,000 has been set, with all funds generated at the live auction going to the museum. Twenty percent of each ticket purchased will also be donated to the museum, and a further ten percent will support the Long Riders Motorcycle Club, who will provide several marshals for the ride.”
Mr. Cahill said, “Dockyard has been hit hard this year, with no cruise ships or tourists. We were grateful to receive a mass gathering exemption for 200 people so that we could bring a burst of life to the area. The Anchor Restaurant will be providing a simple take-out menu at the show, as well as offering dine-in specials on food and drink.
“Given the gathering limit, the show will be a ticket only event – we won’t be in a position to accept casual visitors. The venue will be restricted to riders and sponsors only – an auto conference that will offer a more intimate experience than our summer events, primarily aimed at enthusiasts.
“Each ticket holder will receive automatic entry for our ‘Best in Show’ competition, and although many riders come for the excitement of the motorcade and the show, rather than to compete, we do anticipate a record number of exceptional display vehicles this year.”
The spokesperson said, “The ‘Best in Show’ sections have expanded, adding ‘Custom Scooter’ and ‘Original Scooter’ [restored] categories to this year’s event, which also includes Custom and Original Motorcycles and Autos.
“Also new for this year are three ‘People’s Choice’ awards, and three more for ‘Best Light show’ when the ride returns after sunset.
“Remaining tickets are available for $39 at bermudacharge.com, bdatix.bm, or cash sales at Scooter Mart. Latecomer tickets will be priced at $49.”
