Bermuda Digest Of Statistics 2020 Released
Today, Minister for the Cabinet Office Wayne Furbert released the Bermuda Digest of Statistics 2020 from the Department of Statistics.
The Minister explained, “The Digest is structured into ten sections and contains brief analyses, quick facts and charts for each section. There are more than 60 statistical tables which provide a wealth of data about Bermuda’s social, demographic and economic conditions. This publication is an excellent tool for research, school projects, marketing initiatives and business planning.”
Some of the 2018-2019 highlights include:
- The number of marriages was the lowest since 1954 as a result of an 18% decrease this past year.
- Bermuda College enrolment increased by 31% to 1,624 students.
- Food and non-alcoholic beverage retail prices rose for 36 of the 46 selected items.
- Government expenditure exceeded revenue by $14.6 million during the fiscal year.
- The value of goods imported increased by 5% to $1,123.4 million.
- The number of road casualties decreased by 6% to 714.
- The number of visitor arrivals increased by 5% to 805,039.
