Budget Does Not Ask For 10% Pay Reduction
“We are most proud to recognize the sacrifice of public sector workers by presenting a budget that does not ask them for an additional year of the 10% pay reduction,” the Premier said.
Last night, Premier David Burt tweeted, “Looking forward to tomorrow’s budget statement where Bermuda’s Min. of Finance will present the 2021 Budget. We are most proud to recognize the sacrifice of public sector workers by presenting a budget that does not ask them for an additional year of the 10% pay reduction.
“Bermuda’s public officers have performed well during this pandemic & many have gone above & beyond. Most public-sector unions answered the call of sacrifice & assisted the country with 10% salary reductions for one year. This sacrifice helped us fund unemployment benefits.
“I thank all public officers for their incredible work during the pandemic & thank those who put next year’s budget together under difficult circumstances. We have managed to ensure that we deliver services to Bermuda without asking you to make a further year of sacrifice.
“I hope that everyone will tune in tomorrow as Bermuda’s Minister of Finance lays out next year’s budget. The House of Assembly starts at 10AM, and you can watch the statement live on CITV or the Government of Bermuda’s YouTube or Facebook Pages.”
My trash hasn’t been collected emperor.
Did our useless polititricks politicians and F&F take a 10% cut for a year too or was it everyone on our tax besides them? Asking for a hungry friend!!!
Thats very generous of the Honourable Premier to reinstate the civil service to full pay as thousands of private sector employees remain unemployed due to the effective yet draconian measures taken to spare us the wrath of this overrated disease. Oh to be a Gumment employee… that is the true measure of success in the new world!
“thousands of private sector employees remain unemployed due to the effective yet draconian measures taken to spare us the wrath of this overrated disease.”
Thank you ex-president T***p
Cry me a river. The majority in the public service had reduced hours and the same take home pay, while thousands in the private sector had actual pay significantly reduced or lost their jobs.
What about a nice pay reduction for politicians? Hahahaha…. I crack myself up.
“What about a nice pay reduction for politicians? Hahahaha…. ”
Have you not been listening, it is the mission of this PLP Government to redistribute the wealth in Bermuda. This is just the start.
There it is. His voter base – civil servants – are put first and foremost.
Everyone else takes a hit, but not the people who steal a wage.
Most unions? Should have been all unions. Somebody got ambushed.
