Police Investigating Attempted Truck Fire
Police are investigating an incident in which someone “tried to set fire to a truck” parked in Pembroke early this morning [March 16], with the fire put out by a member of the public.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 7:22 this morning, Tuesday 16th March 2021, police received a report that someone had tried to set fire to a truck parked near the junction of Parsons Road and Rambling Lane, Pembroke, just opposite the Pembroke Laundromat.
“The caller reported there was a small fire seen underneath the vehicle and what appeared to be a fuel container nearby.
“The fire was put out by a member of the public before the truck could be ignited.
“Police and Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel attended the scene, which was processed by a member of the police Forensics Support Unit.
“As investigations continue, anyone who may have any information on this incident is asked to call 295-0011.”
There have been a number of vehicle fires in recent months, with the latest, on March 11th, destroying a car and five motorcycles parked outside a Pembroke residence, with the police previously confirming that they are also investigating that incident which is “being considered suspicious”
