Cervino Competes In U17 World Championships
16-year-old Bermudian Matteo Cervino is competing against teens from Poland, France, Germany, Hungary, and the USA in the O’pen Skiff U17 World Championships, with the event taking place in Calasetta, Sardinia.
A spokesperson said, “Teens arriving from Poland, France, Germany, Hungary, and the USA are competing in the O’pen Skiff Class sailing World Championships taking place in Calasetta, Sardinia.
“The first day of racing was unfortunately called off due to high winds. With moderate to strong winds on the second day, the racers managed to complete four races.
“16-year-old Matteo Cervino, competing for the first time in the U17 World Championships, finished in sixth place in the first race, 20th place in the second race, and 15th place in the third race. In the fourth race, he fell back to 24th, which he as able to drop having completed four races.
“After the second day, he is in 26th position out of 131 competitors. More competition to come over the next few days.”
