Bermuda Sailors Begin Competing In Argentina
Eight Bermuda young sailors began competing in the 2021 South American Optimist Championships in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Ethan Thompson, Sarah Davis, Trystan Hocking, Shiloh Cruickshank, Oliver Soares, Riley Lowe, Sophia Dias, and Dylan Menzies all took to the water for the opening day 3 races.
Thompson came off the water leading the Bermuda Fleet in 12th place overall with 23 points; he finished 9th in the first race, 3rd in the second race, before crossing the line in 11th in the third and final race of the day.
Cruickshank is in 67th place with 72 points, Dias has 86 points and is in 83rd, Davis currently is holding down the 89th spot with 89 points, Lowe is in 91st with 94 points, Hocking is in 115th with 109 points, while Menzies is in 128th with 118 points, and Soares is in 141st with 133 points.
