Audio | Pearman On ‘Principled Leadership’
“I just can’t shake the feeling that this week the wrong man resigned,” MP Scott Pearman said on Friday. as he spoke on a number of topics, including ‘principled leadership.’
Speaking in the House of Assembly, Scott Pearman said, “This has been a very bad week for Bermuda and please notice that I don’t say it has been a bad week for the PLP, I don’t even say it’s been a bad week for the Government, although surely it has, but more importantly it’s been a bad week for Bermuda.”
“Bermuda is a small island, but we have a surprisingly big number of problems, and we have to try and solve those problems.”
“We had the resignation of the former Finance Minister and by common consent, he was a good man, he is a good man.” he added. “It is extremely disturbing that he is gone.”
Noting that Mr Dickinson was very successful in the private sector, Mr Pearman said the former Minister gave his time and effort to “try and fix our economic woes.”
“I am concerned, let me just take a handful of examples,” he said, and mentioned a number of matters including the $800,000 to Savvy, Dr Carika Weldon’s resignation, two Senators resigning, the millions paid for the contract with ResQwest and more.
The text above represents only a small portion of Mr Pearman’s comments, for full context please listen to his full 19-minute speech during the Motion to Adjourn on Friday, where multiple MPs spoke, we will continue to post audio, and you can access additional audio of their comments here.
Oh you’ve woken up? With all the nonsense OBA have said NOTHING about, you are now every so slowly awakening from your DEEP DEEP slumber.
Your communication remains poor. Who can get emotional from this? You need to beat the drum loud and clear ALL THE TIME! OBA isn’t wrong, just boring.
OBA knew how to start turning the economy around. Maybe flashy personalities in PLP, but I just want the economy growing and opportunities for Bermudians. Give me boring everyday if it brings results and consign personalities to throw away TV entertainment.
Principled leadership? The OBA has no room to talk about principled leadership. Who remembers the resignation of Craig cannonier?
Who remembers Michael Dunkley calling an election simply to stave off a no confidence vote?
Do we even know who the current OBA leader is?
“Do we even know who the current OBA leader is?”
Cole Simons
He shouldn’t have resigned IMHO.
Says the team that put Dr. Brown and his cabal in power. Hahahahahahahahahaha.
Cannonier resigned because he accepted a free jet flight, which he also accepted was a mistake.
Burt accepted free flights to and from Chicago, plus free nights in a swanky Chicago hotel, plus free meals, and yet he gets pissy if anyone asks a question about it. When he is going to resign?
He was also given $350K for the OBA campaign from a hotelier who also owned the jet. The OBA never saw a penny LMAO. I can’t believe he remains in the party.
How about that certain Premier who took multiple private jet rides on his old school buddies jet and then gave him a multiple year untendered tourism contract that the AG later deemed to be an overpriced waste of money ?
The REAL jetgate.
But you guys act as though you’ve never even heard about it ?
Why ?
MP Pearman cant really speak about principled leadership in the OBA since almost all MPs heralded the former Minister of Finance for his brilliance on Friday but allowed Vic Ball to author a letter on the same day that alleges that the Minister of Finance was incompetent. They need to be consistent. They can not be so obviously political but claim to be principled leaders!!
“Allowed?” If they prohibited from writing his own thoughts then you would claim this, that and the other.
He articulated his own opinion in his article.
This guy reminds why the UBP changed it’s name to oba.
Alone we stand, Together we fall.
