Audio | DeSilva On Resignation, Budget & More
“I have a lot of respect for Curtis Dickinson,” MP Zane DeSilva said in the House of Assembly, adding that they will deliver the budget, which the former Minister “had a big hand in producing.”
“Budgets are started working on in October/November the previous year. Everyone knows….that sits in this Honourable House, and if they don’t know they should not be here…that the budgets, by this time, are all but done,” he said. “All the speeches have been written for each Ministry.”
“I am very curious as to why there is so much concern over our Finance Minister resigning, and it seems to be serious concern by the Opposition, when they had a Premier…. a Premier…for the first time in our history resign, and we still don’t know why he resigned.”
Mr DeSilva’s speech covered a range of issues including, but not limited to, the former Finance Minister’s resignation, politics in general, JetGate and Sir John Swan’s comments, and it prompted approximately ten ‘Points of Order’ from OBA MPs Craig Cannonier, Scott Pearman, Michael Dunkley and Susan Jackson — with one asserting he used ‘Unparliamentary language’ for saying “with regard to the former Premier Sir John Swan, my thing is who the hell does he think he is” — and there was also an attempted ‘Point of Clarification.’
For full context please listen to Mr DeSilva’s full 23-minute speech during the Motion to Adjourn on Friday, where multiple MPs spoke, we will continue to post audio, and you can access additional audio of their comments here.
Sounds the like the REAL gentleman Sir JOHN, is rattling all you bsers cages.
Well done sir john, guess the doc will be speaking soon.
Yes, Sir John has caused the trotting out of even this guy. You know they are up a certain creek without a paddle when they think pulling this guy from the bench will help.
Grasping at straws. Preparing us for the budget of doom.
Zane’s energy is wild.Bermudian accent such a beautiful thing to hear when it has that energy, so compelling.
What? He sounds unhinged.
Zane’s green tie says it all
