Bermuda College IT Operations Disrupted
Noting that it is “believed to be a cyber attack,” the Bermuda College has advised that its “IT systems have been disrupted, affecting internet, website, internal portals and webmail services.”
A spokesperson said, “Bermuda College today advised that its IT systems have been disrupted, affecting internet, website, internal portals and webmail services. Some classroom instruction has also been affected.
“The disruption, believed to be a cyber attack, was discovered yesterday, and the College’s IT provider and cybersecurity experts have been working around the clock to resolve the issue and bring the systems back online. The Bermuda Police Service has also launched an investigation.
“Initial indications suggest that no personal or other information has been stolen; and, as regular back-ups are part of the ITpolicy at the College, no data has been lost.
“In the meantime, the College phone system has not been affected and persons can call the College switchboard at 236-9000 during regular working hours or use direct lines.
A College spokesperson apologised for the inconvenience, “noting that every effort is being made to resume normal operations as quickly as possible.
“Experiential classes and labs on campus not requiring internet access will continue as usual, as will classes that are conducted remotely.”
