BFA Announce Squad For Concacaf W Qualifiers
The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] has announced the traveling team to represent Bermuda in the first two Concacaf W Qualifier matches.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] has announced the traveling team to represent Bermuda in the first two Concacaf W Qualifier matches. The Senior Women’s National Team [SWNT] was drawn into Group C with Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, and the Cayman Islands. The matches in this Group will serve a preliminary round and the winner of the Group will advance to the Concacaf W Championship.
“The SWNT will play their first two qualifiers this February. They will face Jamaica on Thursday, February 17, at the National Stadium in Jamaica. The match will kick off at 7:00pm AST [6:00pm EST]. The SWNT will play their second qualifier match on Tuesday, February 22, against the Cayman Islands at the IMG Academy in FL, USA. The second qualifier kicks off at 6:00pm AST [5:00pm EST]. All matches will be available live on the Concacaf App. The match between Bermuda and the Cayman Islands will be streamed live on the Bermuda Football Association YouTube Channel for Bermudian audiences only.
“It is with excitement that I name the 23 players that will be representing Bermuda for the 2023 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers,” said Head Coach Naquita Robinson. “All the players have been working extremely hard over the past two years and are ready to take on the challenge which lies ahead.
“Selecting this team wasn’t an easy task because everyone has put in the work. We understand players will be disappointed, but not making this round doesn’t eliminate them for the next one. The players are looking forward to this opportunity to showcase all their hard work and see this as an opportunity for success. Our coaching team has worked hard to prepare the players for these matches, and we are ready to go. Thank you, Bermuda, for all your support and we will continue to make you proud.”
