Photos: “Is Bermuda Another World?” Art
On Friday, Minister of Education Diallo Rabain joined Bermuda’s public primary schools, along with Warwick Academy, Bermuda Institute, and the BHS for the opening of “Is Bermuda Another World?”
Minister Rabain was on hand to officially launch the art exhibition at the Bermuda Society of Arts, and stated, “I know it has been quite some time since we have all been able to gather in a creative space such as this, so I am delighted to see each of you here and to engage in this artistic journey with you tonight and to witness the work produced for the Ministry of Education’s 56th Annual Bermuda Primary School Art Show.
“The Department of Education, particularly its Art Teachers, have worked very hard with our students to produce the works you will see this evening. All public primary schools, Warwick Academy, Bermuda Institute, and Bermuda High School students have brought to life their creative imaginings and answered the question “Is Bermuda Another World?”. Tonight’s exhibition brings to light issues that face us in our community daily and causes us to pause to reflect on the world in which we are living.”
“This is an opportunity for these young artists to shine, reflect and share their world from their eyes. We are grateful to Mr. John Woolridge for stepping up to ensure the 56th Annual Art Show was successful in the absence of Education Officer for the Arts, the BSOA Gallery Director, Nzinga Ming, and the students who contributed to this exhibit. I look forward to engaging with the artwork on display tonight and finding the time within my own quiet moments to reflect on the social issues presented through this medium.”
This exhibition will be on display for the next three weeks and will end on April 1st; the Middle and Senior Schools will begin their exhibition on April 8th, 2022.
