Shield Final & FA Challenge Cup Final Results
A total of 10 goals were scored at the National Sports Center Flora Duffy South Field Stadium in two Bermuda Football Association finals.
Shield Final: Wolves 3 – Young Men Social Club 2
Wolves came from 2 – 0 down to defeat the Young Men Social Club 3 – 2 in the Shield Final.
Wolves starting line up included Gatwoine Minors, London Steede, Jason Davis, Lamelle Paynter, Derrick Brangman [Kyle Brangman 64th], Sergio Richardson [Morricko Iris 74th], Quinn Simmons, Russ Ford II [Tamauri Tucker 64th], Kwan Smith, Omeek Smith, and Samario Valasse-Paul.
Young Men Social Club starting line up included Koshun Simmons, Ryan Parris, Jomeko Mallory, Shakii Pearman [Makai Young 68th], Kelvon Butterfield [Jahmair Lewis-Trott 76th], Jinairo Johnson [Brighton Swan 68th], Akim Johnston, Teron Butterfield, Mikal Simmons, David Jones Jr., and Zanikae Hendrickson.
Young Men Social Club took the lead in the second minute when Jomeko Mallory scored. Ryan Parris doubled the lead in the 30th minute. Young Men Social Club took that two goal lead to the break.
In the 60th minute Sergio Richardson hammered a shot from inside the box that left Young Men Social Club goalkeeper Koshun Simmons stranded. The equalizer came in the 81st minute when Simmons, stalling for time, allowed London Steede to pull the ball out of his grasp. Steede’s cross saw a goal mouth scramble that resulted in a handball and a penalty awarded; Steede calmly put the ball away to level the score.
On the stroke of full time, substitute Morricko Iris scored from close range to earn Wolves the comeback win and hand them the Shield.
FA Challenge Cup Final: Dandy Town Hornets 3 – PHC Zebras 2
The Dandy Town Hornets defeated the PHC Zebras 3-2 in an entertaining FA Challenge Cup Final.
Dandy Town Hornets starting line up included Jaiden Manders, Eusebio Blankendal, Tre Manders, Nizigh Spence [Jhazil Johnson 90th], Enrique Swan [Angelo Simmons 68th], Michael Parsons, Kamali Davis [Oneko Lowe 75th], Cecoy Robinson [Jahzardae Samuels 68th], Azendae Furbert, Tomiko Goater, and Mateo Issac.
PHC Zebras starting line up included Shaquille Trott, Marco Warren, Michael Lambe, Kadeem Abraham, Tre Ming [Makai Joell 88th], Rakeem Deshields, Enrique Russell, Antwan Russell, De-Andre Smith-Lightbourne, Shakhai Trott, and Jahiem Iris [Kushae Hypolite 88th].
Going against a strong breeze, the Dandy Town Hornets took the lead when Tomiko Goater’s right footed kick went through a maze of players and beat the PHC Zebras goalkeeper Shaquille Trott to his right. Kamali Davis doubled the Dandy Town Hornets lead in the 31st minute. David was set free on the left and his shot beat an advancing Trott. The PHC Zebras pulled a goal back in the 36th minute when Rakeem DeShields scored from close range following a free kick.
In the 67th minute, Antwan Russell leveled the score as he beat the offside trap and pushed the ball past advancing Dandy Town Hornets goalkeeper Jaiden Manders, but in the 86th minute Dandy Town Hornets substitute Oneko Lowe went on a run from inside his half of the field challenging PHC Zebras defenders, only for one of them to turn the ball into the back of his own net to give the Dandy Town Hornets a lead that they would hold until the final whistle.
