Photos: Queen’s Baton Relay Tours Bermuda
[Updated with video] The Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay arrived in Bermuda – the 62nd destination out of the 72 Commonwealth nations and territories it will be visiting – this week, and has toured the island from east to west, with many notable people involved.
Bernews caught up with the Baton in the west end yesterday, which involved two of the island’s legendary athletes — our first Olympic medalist, Clarence Hill, and Katura Horton Perinchief, the first Black woman in the world to make an Olympic appearance in diving — as well as some of our key front line workers who helped during the pandemic, including Dr Carika Weldon, and representatives from the BFRS, Regiment, and Police.
Bermuda Olympic Association president, Peter Dunne, previously said, “I am delighted that Bermuda is a part of this extraordinary journey. It’s a way to highlight and promote the culture, people and natural beauty of Bermuda across the Commonwealth.”
