Football: Footy Queens Defeat Lady Colts 8 – 1
This lone Bermuda Football Association Women’s League match at the Clyde Best Center of Excellence Field saw the Footy Queens battle the St. George’s Lady Colts.
The Footy Queens came away with an 8 – 1 win, after leading 3 – 0 at the break.
Leilani Nesbeth gave the Footy Queens the lead in the 18th minute, Micah Pond doubled the lead in the 21st minute, before Teyah Lindo extended the lead in the 27th minute.
The St. George’s Lady Colts pulled a goal back in the 36th minute when Shye Blair-Paynter scored, but Nesbeth restored the Footy Queens’ three-goal lead when she scored her second of the game in the 44th minute.
Two own goals in a space of two minutes extended the Footy Queens’ lead to 6 – 1, before Nesbeth completed her hat-trick in the 54th minute, and Zindzi Swan then closed out the scoring with Footy Queen’s eighth goal on the night.
