BTA To Host Swizzle Festival On October 9

The Bermuda Tourism Authority will host the island’s inaugural Swizzle Festival on a new date, Sunday, October 9th at Barr’s Bay Park from 1.00pm to 6.00pm.

A spokesperson said, “The premiere event will feature a collective of the island’s top swizzle masters, alongside food vendors who have created swizzle-infused culinary offerings on their menus.

“The Bermuda Swizzle Festival is a first-time signature event within the Great Sound Entertainment Series, a collaboration between the Bermuda Government and Bermuda Tourism Authority to help create immersive entertainment experiences for visitors to connect with Bermudian culture alongside locals. The Swizzle Festival is aligned with the National Tourism Plan objective to innovate the tourism product with memorable, authentically Bermudian experiences that offer local engagement, and highlight Bermuda’s food and cocktail culture.

“Beyond the swizzle-themed treats, cocktail tasting, and food offerings, the event will include a line-up of high-energy sets by local performers such as the Silver City and Working Title Bands, and DJ Mystro delivering Top 40 hits and soca sounds throughout the day. Patrons are invited to sample various interpretations of the classic Bermuda Rum Swizzle at the picturesque harbour-side location, enjoy the entertainment, and partake of the savoury and sweet food options available for sale.

“Launched in mid-August with events scheduled until October 9, the Great Sound Entertainment Series has featured weekly live performances at outdoor locations, and on-the-water experiences, as well as supporting the expansion of the City of Hamilton busking programme.

“The Entertainment Series continues to deliver an array of musical experiences for both visitors and locals. Saturdays-at-Woody’s continues with live bands performing al fresco each weekend until October 1 in the popular west-end eatery. On the heels of the successful St. George’s Seafood Festival, the series will wrap up with the Bermuda Swizzle Festival set to take place on October 9 at Barr’s Bay Park with a fusion of entertainment and Bermuda’s cocktail culture.”

“We’re thrilled with the response from visitors and locals to the series and it has highlighted the opportunities for local promoters to create entertainment-fuelled experiences in Bermuda’s stunning natural venues around the island,” said Tashae Thompson, VP of Experiences, Bermuda Tourism Authority.

• The Kings Swizzle
• Gombey Juice

“Single-serve samples and full-size packages of the featured swizzles will be available for sale.

“Featured food vendors & swizzle-infused products:

• @duchpopsbermuda – 100% Hand-crafted Bermuda-made swizzle-infused popsicles.

• Bermuda Rum Cake Company – Popular Bermuda rum cakes flavoured with a hint of swizzle.

• Kara’s Kitchen – The popular food service brand will provide delicious, hearty meal options including vegan options for those with special dietary needs.

“The Bermuda Swizzle Festival will take place on October 9 at Barr’s Bay Park and runs from 1 pm – 6 pm. Advance tickets to the Bermuda Swizzle Festival are available for free online at www.Ticketisle.bm. Those without tickets will pay $10 at the gate. To ensure visitors have access to the experience, Bermuda’s tourism guests need only show proof of international residence to get free access to the festival.”
