Sept 21: BCB To Host Women’s Hardball Cricket

September 16, 2022

The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] will be hosting a women’s hardball cricket session led by Briana Ray on Wednesday, September 21 at the National Sports Centre from 6.15pm to 7.30pm.

A spokesperson said, “The BCB will be hosting a women’s hardball cricket session lead by female cricketer Briana Ray.

“Briana, who has been playing cricket in the UK for five years is currently studying at Loughborough University and has been playing cricket for their U18, U19 and university sides.”

She said: “Learning how to play hardball cricket may seem scary and intimidating at first but once you know how to properly catch, field and bowl safely it becomes easier.

“In women’s cricket, the ball doesn’t come as fast, so the best thing is to teach the basics and technique first with the bowling machine before facing the hardball. Watching and learning how to play the game is also helpful, but the more you play the more you start to understand it.”

The spokesperson said, “Since winter of 2021, the BCB has been facilitating a women’s cricket development programme in partnership with BF&M with over 60 participants and three club teams — Warwick Workmen’s, Bailey’s Bay and Western Stars.

“All those interested are invited to a hardball demonstration on Wednesday, September 21 at the National Sports Centre [BCB Training Nets] from 6:15 to 7:30 pm.

“To register or for more information, email info@cricket.bm by Wednesday at 12pm.”
