Team Bermuda Compete In World Amateur Golf
The Bermuda golf team started competing in the 32nd World Amateur Team Championship at Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche in France, a traditional course with wood lined fairways and fast, undulating greens.
A spokesperson said, “Team Bermuda currently lie in 60th place. Jarryd Dillas lead the way as he posted a four over par 76. Will Haddrell contributed to the overall team score as he shot a nine over score of 81. Damian Palanyandi opened with a twelve over par score of 84.
“The second round of the WATC is being played at the famous Le Golf National, home of the 2018 Ryder Cup and host course of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Le Golf National is a beast of a golf course, a par 72 measuring over 7,100 yards. At press time, Team Bermuda made the nine hole turn up two places in a tie for 58.”
President Craig Brown, “There is a testing cross wind this afternoon as the bad weather starts to roll in. The players and non-playing captain Gary Burnet are fighting and grinding hard over every shot today. They’ve made the turn and moved up the leaderboard, hopefully over the second nine they can bring home a solid finish which will set us up for the final rounds of this prestigious event.”
