Weekenders Dedicate Run To Eliza Fletcher
The Weekenders dedicated their run to American teacher Eliza Fletcher who was abducted during her morning run around the University of Memphis campus in Tennessee and later murdered.
A spokesperson said, “This morning, our running group – The Weekenders, dedicated their run to Eliza Fletcher who was abducted during her morning run around the University of Memphis campus and later murdered. This virtual run was a way to honor and grieve the loss of Eliza Fletcher. We wore pink and purple as those were the colours she was wearing on her run.
“The idea for this initiative was created by Jen Scott in the US who is a fellow runner and she set up a sign up page on runsignup.com. The group feels strongly that you should be able to run safely anywhere without the threat of being intimidated or in Eliza’s case, abducted. We all came together to #finishelizasrun.”
