The City of Hamilton is reminding Bermuda’s boating community that the deadline to register to take part in the 2022 City Christmas Boat Parade is fast-approaching, with the deadline set for November 9th.
A spokesperson said, “The City is thrilled to reveal that we are working with Kyle Swan of Swan Pyrotechnics Ltd. to bring fireworks back with a BANG at this year’s boat parade which promises to be a mesmerizing spectacle!
“As announced previously, the City will be hosting the 2022 City Christmas Boat Parade on Saturday, December 10th after a brief hiatus. Since 2017, the City has committed to taking over the organization and execution of the official Boat Parade from the Bermuda Boat Parade Charity and is calling on all interested participants to sign up their boats for registration at the following link: Boat Parade Application Form. The registration deadline for participants is Wednesday, November 9th.
“Registered boat parade participants will receive a 10 per cent discount at Masters to purchase lights for the occasion.
“There are numerous prizes to be won in the following categories:
- Best Overall Boat [1st Place] – $1500 Belco Gift Voucher
- People’s Choice [2nd Place] – $1000 PW Marine Gift Voucher
- Best Traditional Christmas Message [3rd Place] – $500 Rubis Gift Voucher
“Additional trophies will be awarded for the following categories: Best Community Message, Most Original, Most Humorous and Children’s Choice.
“The City plans to host the City Christmas Boat Parade on alternate years so as not to conflict with the Corporation of St. George’s Boat Parade.”
The City’s Senior Events & Marketing Coordinator Mrs. Tamara Smith said: “We are really excited to be able to bring this much-loved event and family tradition back to the City of Hamilton as part of our Christmas programme of events. To see the harbour lit up with thousands of festive lights is a truly spectacular sight and brings the magic of the holidays to people of all ages.”
The spokesperson said, “The rain date for the boat parade will be Sunday, December 11th.
“Entry into the viewing village and kidszone activities at No.1 Car Park will be free of charge. There will be a host of delicious food and snack options available for purchase as well as warm beverages to keep you cozy while you watch the boats.”
HSBC Head of Wealth and Personal Banking, Tanya Bule stated, “HSBC is proud to partner with the City of Hamilton to bring this festive favorite event back to Hamilton. The City Christmas Boat Parade has always been a highlight of the holiday calendar, getting everyone in the Christmas spirit, and we are delighted to sponsor it for 2022.”
The spokesperson said, “More information about the Bermuda Christmas Boat Parade will be forthcoming and all updates can be found on the City website at www.cityofhamilton.bm. For more information about entry into the parade or any event details, email events@cityhall.bm.”
