BPS: Keni Smith Found ‘Safe And Well’

[Updated] The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] said they continue “their search for 21-year-old Keni Smith and renews the appeal for any members of the public with relevant information to contact police immediately.”

A police spokesperson said, “As a reminder, Mr. Smith is described as brown complexioned, 6 feet 1 inch tall of slim build, weighing approximately 150 pounds with short black hair and was last seen around 2pm Sunday, 20th November 2022.

“He was last known to be on foot heading west from the Botanical Gardens in Paget, along South Road, wearing a white T-shirt, camouflage coloured pants and black flip flops.

“It is understood that Mr. Smith likes to frequent shorelines, particularly in the areas of Shelly Bay and Harbour Road. He is also known to frequent the area of the former T.N. Tatem school building.

“So far BPS officers, with assistance from the Coastguard for shoreline searches, have conducted extensive checks of several areas, including:

  • Botanical Gardens, Paget.
  • Shelly Bay beach and park, Hamilton parish.
  • John Smith’s Bay, Smith’s parish.
  • Tom Moore’s Tavern, Hamilton parish and area Railway Trails.
  • The former T.N. Tatem school building, Middle Road, Warwick.
  • Smiths Avenue, Warwick.
  • Botanical Gardens, South Road, Paget.
  • Harbour Road shoreline.
  • Devon Springs Road, Devonshire and surrounding areas.
  • Devonshire Bay, Devonshire to Elbow Beach, Paget shoreline.

“Checks of CCTV have also been made and these efforts will continue until further notice.

“Residents are once again encouraged to review their outdoor security cameras and dash cams for any possible footage of 21-year-old Keni Smith. They are also asked to check their yard, sheds and any derelict buildings on their property for the young man. Any sightings should be reported immediately by calling 211, 911 or Acting Detective Inspector Sharnita Tankard of the Vulnerable Persons Unit on 247-1739. Acting Detective Inspector Tankard can also be e-mailed on stankard@bps.bm.”

Update Nov 21, 6.10pm: A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] can confirm that around 5pm today, Monday 21st November 2022, 21-year-old Keni Smith was located in the Paget area safe and well.

“The BPS thanks the public for their assistance in locating him.”
