Harvey Cooper Art Award Winners Announced
The Harvey Cooper Award has released the winners for this year’s interschool art competition, with a number of students earning accolades.
The theme for 2022 was “I Think I See A Pattern Here: Show the viewer a pattern in nature, a pattern of behaviour, a recurring series of actions or any repetition that you see in the world around you.”
Students aged 12-19 from the Berkeley Institute, Bermuda High School [BHS], Mount Saint Agnes Academy [MSA], Somersfield Academy, and Whitney Institute Middle School participated in the event.
Artwork that sold included:
- Chorus – $400 – Naomi Every – Age 16 – Somersfield Academy
- Eyes of Society – $200 – Emily Dunstan – Age 16 – Mount Saint Agnes Academy [MSA]
- Eye Sea Danger – $300 – Chelsea Scarth – Age 16 – Mount Saint Agnes Academy [MSA]
The People’s Choice online public vote:
- Online People’s Choice Middle School Price – $100 – Leopards Don’t Change Their Spots – Zoe Mir – Age 13 – Somersfield Academy
- Online People’s Choice High School Price – $1,000 – Chorus – Naomi Every – Age 16 – Somersfield Academy
Meanwhile, “Patterns of Two, Patterns of Three” by Lyla Costa Azevedo, age 12, of Whitney Institute Middle School earned an honourable mention.
Judge prizes included:
- 3rd prize – $250 – Eyes of Society – Emily Dunstan – Age 16 – Mount Saint Agnes Academy [MSA]
- 2nd prize – $500 – Through Tinted Glasses – Samantha Rance – Age 15 – Bermuda High School [BHS]
- 1st prize – $1000 – Eye Sea Danger – Chelsea Scarth – Age 16 – Mount Saint Agnes Academy [MSA]
