Temporary Relocation Of City Hall Admin Offices
The City of Hamilton advised that “due to interior renovations of the administrative offices at City Hall, all walk-in reception services, as well as several staff members of the Accounts Department, will be temporarily relocated to the premises formerly occupied by The Hodge Podge – adjacent to Point House and Albuoy’s Point, by the ferry terminal.”
A spokesperson said, “The new location will be in operation and open to the public as of Monday, January 16th, 2023.“Services affected include EasyPark top-ups and parking voucher purchases, collection of Disabled Parking Permits, insurance and City tax payments, tender collection and drop-offs, and any other administrative services offered to the public. 15-minute parking bays will be installed in the immediate area to accommodate those doing City business. Hours of operation will be as per usual, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
“In order to facilitate the move, the public is advised that the administrative offices at City Hall will be closed for business on Friday, January 13th, 2023.”
Assistant City Engineer, Chris Bulley, said of the renovations, “City Hall is over 60 years old now and the infrastructure, most notably the HVAC system, as well as plumbing and electrical, needs replacing. At the same time, we’ll take the opportunity to reconfigure and upgrade the interior office space to better suit the administrative needs of the City.”
The spokesperson said, “The renovations will not affect The Bermuda National Gallery or the Bermuda Society of Arts nor impact any bookings in the Earl Cameron Theatre. Both galleries have extensive 2023 calendars and will be open during the renovations.
“As of January 11th, all Corporation Board and Committee meetings, usually held in the Mayor’s Parlour, and open to the public, will take place in the training room of the Human Resource Department at the City Works Depot on Laffan Street.
“The renovations at City Hall are scheduled for completion by the end of April 2023. Full notice will be given when the renovations are completed, and all reception services have been reinstalled at City Hall.
“The public is reminded that many reception services and applications are accessible through online portals on the City’s website – www.cityofhamilton.bm. Please direct any questions or queries about the temporary relocation to info@cityhall.bm.
