Holiday: City Garbage Collection & Traffic Notice
The City of Hamilton advises the public that garbage collection in the City over the Bermuda Day holiday will operate on a reduced schedule.
A spokesperson said, “As per the public notice issued, the last garbage collection for bars, restaurants and businesses will be at 5:00pm on Thursday, May 25th. Collection for residents on Thursday will be as per normal. There will be no garbage collection on Friday, May 26th. The regular schedule will resume on Monday, May 29th.
“The public are kindly asked to not put any trash out on the City sidewalks on days when there is no scheduled collection.
“All garbage should be placed in designated collection areas or in the wheelie bins provided by the City.
“The City has also issued an extensive road closure notice for Friday, May 26th to accommodate the Sinclair Packwood Memorial Cycle Race, the Junior Classic and the Bermuda Day Parade. Closures and parking bans across the City will commence at 6:00am, reopening at 1:00pm. Visit the City’s website for information regarding the affected streets.
“The public is advised that any cars left in ‘No Parking’ areas will be towed at the owners’ expense as they pose a safety hazard to the cycle race.
“In addition, the Bermuda Police Service is hereby authorized to close off streets or portions of streets, re-direct traffic and authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.”
